Good Ol' Boys

This was inspired by an article shared by a Monday Morning Coffee Club friend. The article is based on data from the Economic Innovation Group, a bi-partisen policy think tank. The following links to a research report titled "The Great Transfer-Nation" (https://eig.org/great-transfermation/), which describes the growth in government income transfers both over time and geographically. As the transfers have grown, the primary beneficiaries are the more rural, less affluent sections of the country. These are also the areas that are predominaely Trump voters, and will also be the most impacted by the "big, beatiuiful bill" cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. Of coursce Trump and his cronies continue to blame migrants and illegals for working class problems. I suppose this is an ezample of eyes wide shut.
Good Ol’ Boys
From a deep red place
I’m salt of the earth
And I’m USA born
A real patriot by birth
I hate the government
Can’t stand all this woke
And also the deep state
I’m just a common folk
Born in the USA
Bleed red, white & blue
It’s my native birthright
Says my MAGA tattoo
I’m the real McCoy
Yes, that’s who I am
Take care of your own
That’s the deal with Unc Sam
It’s me been left behind
And I don’t take kindly to
Welfare for the aliens
It’s money that I’m due
It’s been long overdue
Haven’t worked for years
It’s not a handout for me
Screwed by the profiteers
I’m a true red MAGA guy
Need my checks to get by
Tax money that I rate
None for them’s that migrate
Yes, that’s who I am
What’s fair is fair
I’m a good ol’ boy
No charity, don’t care
I’m a good ol’ boy
See in black & white
No messin’ with my benefits
A hypocrite ready to fight
It runs in the family
I’m a fraud and a fake
No help for migrants
It’s mine to partake
Don’t mess with my net
No coddlin’ the poor
Need my SNAP and welfare
Close the border, shut the door
Good ole Bubba
Let’s me run a bill
A regular at the bar
Always up for a refill
I’m a two fisted drinker
A beer and a shot
Drinkin’ whiskey & rye
Man, that hits the spot
Let’s all lift a drink
To the hard working folk
And my welfare check is in
And I won’t be dead broke
I’m a flag-waving imposter
From the lower forty-eight
Outsiders not welcome
My due to discriminate
