Cold Comfort

Back in February, 2024, I started writing about concerns with Joe Biden's age. There were many who were expressing alarm. There was sufficient knowledge of Biden's decline, but family, staff and Democratic Party elders did not react until it was to late. The 2024 election post-mortems are starting to be published, and it's clear that many insiders will not come out smelling very good. They paved the way for The Chaos.

It’s a cold comfort

To be on the right side

You gave away the House

With your hubris and pride

The debate was the nail

That sealed his fate

Clear that his shelf life

Was now out of date

That he was too old

To stand and debate

How do you recover

And unable to negate

It was so very clear

For those in the know

His family and staff

They reap what they sow

A life of service

His mind not intact

A legacy in ruins

You ignored the fact

It’s a cold comfort

To be on the right side

Chose to ignore the signs

Now a legacy denied

You were all tone deaf

And you lost your base

For the working class voter

It was a slap in the face

You chose to enable

Chose to deflect

Chose to hide

Chose to protect

So here is your legacy

The blame at your door

Stock market chaos

Tariffs and trade wars

Bessant, Lutnick, and JD Vance

Hegseth, Noam and RFK

Yes-men, fawners, lackeys

And you paved the way

You allowed a con man

A grifter by trade

Was it your egos and  pride

Or did arrogance pervade

Was your pride any better

than a grifter’s greed

What you tried to sell

Was not what we need

There was plenty of time

To right the ship

Because you all knew

He was losing his grip

You said he was mentally sharp

That only he could defeat

And then it was much too late

To beat the retreat

It’s a cold comfort

To be on the right side

You gave away the House

With your hubris and pride
